There’s a wind in the rigging, low and alive
And a line drawn out where the horizon lies
She was built from oak where the cold tides run
A collier’s hull in the northern sun
With a belly full and a stubborn frame
She was never meant for a noble name
But the men who came and the hands who knew
Said “She’ll carry farther than most would do”
And the chart was blank where the line should be
So they turned her bow to an unseen sea
No king had marked where the course would run
No map had named what was yet undone
Hey! Let her run where the wild winds blow
Hey! To the edge of the world we go
From the coal-black decks to the open blue
She’s the Endeavour cutting through
Hey! Raise the sail, let the old world fall
Hey! There’s no chart for the call
Where the lines run out and the oceans start
She’s the Endeavour she’ll break the chart
There’s a weight in the hull and a fire below
And a crew that’s learned what the North Seas know
With the rope-burn hands and the weathered eyes
And the quiet man who don’t speak but writes
He sees stars where the others see night
Marks the course by a different sight
And the further out that the shoreline fades
The more of the world gets rewritten in waves
Hey! Let her run where the wild winds blow
Hey! To the edge of the world we go
From the coal-black decks to the open blue
She’s the Endeavour cutting through
Hey! Raise the sail, let the old world fall
Hey! There’s no chart for the call
Where the lines run out and the oceans start
She’s the Endeavour she’ll break the chart
They said there’s land where no man returns
They said there’s ice where the ocean burns
But a ship like this and a course like that
Don’t turn for rumor… or turning back
Hey! Let her run don’t slow her down
Hey! She was built to leave this ground
From the river’s mouth to the endless blue
She’s the Endeavour pushing through
Hey! Raise the sail, let the old world fall
Hey! There’s no edge there’s no wall
Where the map goes dark and the brave depart
She’s the Endeavour she’ll break the chart
There’s a wake behind and a world ahead
And the truth lies far where the charts have bled
